Windsurf

The “Windsurf” series was born from an unexpected moment of inspiration. It all started when I accidentally took a photograph with a broken lens. The result was surprisingly beautiful, distorted colours, unexpected reflections, and an abstract quality that intrigued me. That moment sparked an idea, and I decided to use that very same broken lens to shoot this entire collection of Windsurfs on the beach on a brilliantly sunny day.

With the bright sunlight and vibrant windsurfing sails as my subjects, I embraced the imperfections and quirks of the damaged lens. I then enhanced the colours digitally to emphasise the intense energy of the scene, while also introducing mirrored reflections in some images to play with symmetry and abstraction. The combination of the broken lens and digital manipulation allowed me to push the boundaries of traditional photography, creating images that capture not just the action of windsurfing, but the feeling of exhilaration and freedom that comes with it.

This collection is a reflection of how unexpected challenges can lead to creative breakthroughs. I hope these images resonate with you and convey the same sense of adventure and excitement that inspired me throughout this shoot.
